Angeles Investment Advisors, LLC is an employee-owned investment advisory firm based in Santa Monica, CA. The firm focuses on delivering thoughtful portfolio construction, rigorous manager selection, and disciplined risk management.

Position Overview:

Angeles seeks a highly motivated and intellectually curious Research Analyst to support investment research across public markets, with a focus on global equities and fixed income strategies, alongside private credit strategies, including co-investments. The role includes manager selection, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, and investment committee support, with broad exposure across asset classes and direct involvement in investment decision-making.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The role is well-suited for candidates interested in developing investment judgment through hands-on exposure to manager selection and portfolio construction.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manager Research & Investment Diligence: Source, screen, and evaluate prospective investment managers for inclusion in client portfolios. Conduct due diligence on investment opportunities, including third-party managers and private credit co-investments. Prepare clear, thoughtful written summaries that articulate the investment thesis, key insights, and recommended next steps.
  • Manager Monitoring & Reporting: Review ongoing manager communications, including performance reports, investor letters, and presentations. Conduct and document periodic update meetings with existing managers, while assessing and tracking changes in investment process, personnel, and performance.
  • Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting: Support the monitoring of portfolio performance, exposures, and liquidity characteristics across public and private credit investments. Assist in analyzing portfolio positioning across asset classes and strategies, and contribute to client reporting deliverables, including portfolio commentary and presentation materials.
  • Investment Committee Support: Participate in investment committee discussions by helping prepare materials and contributing research insights to support investment decision-making.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as needed to support the broader investment team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (any discipline; quantitative or analytical backgrounds preferred)
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in investment research, asset management, or consulting (flexible depending on level)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex investment ideas clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated interest in investment research and financial markets, with a desire to develop long-term expertise
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in developing investment judgment
  • Ability to form independent views and thoughtfully challenge investment ideas
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint

Preferred (but not required):

  • Progress toward or completion of CFA designation
  • Experience with credit research and credit-oriented investment strategies
  • Experience working in Jupyter Notebook environments
  • Experience with data analysis using Python libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
  • Understanding of programming fundamentals (loops, conditionals, functions)
  • Basic familiarity with API usage, including data extraction and transformation

Compensation:

  • Compensation range of $90K–$150K, based on experience, with a discretionary annual bonus

  • Hybrid work environment, with two days per week in the Santa Monica office

Location:

This position is in our Santa Monica, CA office. Angeles offers work from home flexibility, but candidates must be in or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles area.
